Is epoxy resin resistant to scratching?

Yes, epoxy is highly resistant to scratching. The level of resistance varies based on the type of epoxy.

Our Primaloc Bar & Table Top Epoxy is our strongest resin and can endure heavy physical use without exhibiting blemishes from scratching.

However, there are some thing that should be avoided, including sharp edges and extreme heat.

  • Avoid using knives on an epoxy resin surface (such as to prepare food). These can leave marks on the surface, depending on the sharpness of the knife.
  • Avoid placing very hot items on the surface. Epoxy resin can handle temperatures up to 135°F, but beyond that there is a chance for heat damage, including softening, deformation, and other imperfections.

Our Primaloc Deep Pour Epoxy is our second strongest resin. It can endure similar amounts of wear and tear but is not feature the same level of sheer resilience as the Table Top Epoxy. Instead it's designed to be less viscous, capable of being poured in thick, 2-inch deep layers for convenience and aesthetic clarity.

To achieve optimal strength with a Deep Pour Epoxy finish, we recommend an topcoat application of Primaloc Bar & Table Top Epoxy. This is best applied 4 to 10 hours after the Deep Pour has begun curing.
