What is the "working time" of each Primaloc Epoxy?

The working time of an epoxy resin varies by type and brand. Typically a deep pour epoxy will have a much longer working time than a table top epoxy.

For Primaloc Bar & Table Top Epoxy

Our Primaloc Bar & Table Top Epoxy has a working time of about 5 minutes after mixing.

This means you'll have 5 minutes to apply the epoxy to your surfaces before it starts to cure enough that problems could emerge.

When performing the seal coat step, we recommend using no more than 1 combined quart of epoxy resin (16 oz harden with 16 oz resin), as the manual application process for seal coats takes longer than the quick-and-easy pouring of a flood coat.

For large surfaces that require multiple batches to achieve a single layer, you have 20 minutes to mix and apply the next one. Each time a fresh batch is applied to a current layer, the timer for adding more resets. Avoid pouring a layer thicker than 1/8 inch in total, as air bubbles tend to manifest after application, and the natural self-leveling thickness of 1/8 inch is perfect for being able to still remove them.

A larger epoxy project , such as a bar top, can be accomplished more easily by having multiple people help. This makes the process smoother and faster. For instance, one person can mix a batch while another pours. Repeat the process until the entire area is covered with a comprehensive layer.

For Primaloc Deep Pour Epoxy

Our Deep Pour Epoxy has a working time of 20 to 30 minutes after mixing. This is more than enough to apply it, whether to a substrate surface, a river vein reservoir, or within a large resin mold.

Note: Do not use the Deep Pour Epoxy for seal coating. Its low viscosity prevents it from seeping in properly and it tends to run over the edge of a substrate surface more easily.
