Can you give epoxy a matte or satin finish?

Epoxy resin inherently cures to a high-gloss finish. Once it has finished curing, however, there are various methods you can use to transition it to a matte or satin finish.

These methods work for both our Primaloc Bar & Table Top Epoxy and our Primaloc Deep Pour Epoxy.

  • Method 1 (Matte or Satin): Spray a coating of matte lacquer or satin lacquer over the entire cured epoxy surface.
  • Method 2 (Matte): Sand the surface with 300-grit sandpaper, followed by a coating of beeswax.
  • Method 3 (Matte): Use #0000 steel wool on the epoxy finish.
